Getting free home-delivered meals through New York Medicaid is simpler than most people expect. Here's exactly how it works — step by step.
Step 1: Confirm You're Enrolled in NY Medicaid
The HRSN meal program is available to New York Medicaid members only. If you're unsure whether you're enrolled, check your Medicaid card or call your health plan directly. Common NY Medicaid plans include Healthfirst, MetroPlus, Fidelis Care, Molina Healthcare, Wellcare, and Affinity by Molina.
Step 2: Confirm Your Eligibility
You qualify if you are currently pregnant, OR within 12 months of delivering a baby. You do not need to prove financial hardship beyond your Medicaid enrollment.
Step 3: Submit Your Information
Through Orivia Care, enrollment takes about 30 seconds. You only need to provide your name, phone number, and email address. No documents are required to start.
Step 4: United Hands Calls You
After you submit, our screening partner United Hands will call you within 24–48 hours to complete your eligibility verification. They'll ask for your Medicaid ID number and your due date or delivery date. This call typically takes 15–20 minutes.
Step 5: Meals Begin Delivering
Once approved, meal delivery begins within 7 days. Meals are freshly cooked and delivered twice a week — not frozen, not raw. Each delivery covers several days' worth of breakfast, lunch, and dinner, brought right to your door.
